Does anyone have information on availability of a retrofit power assist steering kit that will work on a 1954 Corvette?

Re: Retrofit power assist steering
Not a retrofit per se, but one of the vendor flyers at Carlisle had an electric power steering unit. I didn't pay attention to the vendor so I can't direct you to them. However, the unit was similar to that in the link below. I did not pay attention to the price on the flyer. Not cheap in any case given the advertised price below

Re: Retrofit power assist steering
Thanks for the reply, David. The unit described on the web site is an electric one that involves cutting the column and installing the unit and it is very pricey ($2750). I don't want to cut the steering column. What I am looking for is the old school type that has a hydraulic slave cylinder attached to the steering linkage with a hydraulic pump supplying the pressure run off the engine. I have seen them on various cars back in the 50s but haven't seen one lately.- Top
