    C1 oil pans??

    I have seen on C1 oil pans on the inside deep sump welded 1/2nuts and i have seen small plates welded and tapped for the drain plug is there a difference(early/late) Thanks Kevin powers (775)

    Not sure what C1 oil pans you might be asking about. Looking at oil pan blueprints that were originally drawn from 1952 through '58 they all had "drain flange" #3836804 spot welded in 4 places. This includes Corvette production pan #3735642 used from early '56 thru at least '58.
    The Corvette blueprint for 1955 oil pan #3704925 and very early '56 originally drawn 11-10-52 also had this flange BUT this print was redrawn 5-7-65 with a number of changes which included spot welding baffle #38336495 and projection welding square bolt #3859549 and specified drain plug #839079.
