I have been told that Chevrolet in 1968 built what was called and LLC Corvette. The LLC stands for Long and Lean Corvette. It was suppose to be and 11 second 1/4 mile Corvette. From seeing the car on a TV show it appeared to have racing slicks in the rear with mag type wheels and a large chrome exhaust exiting near the rear wheels. The motor looked like and L88 from the top of the carb. Did Chrvrolet build such a car and sell it to the public ?

Did Chevrolet build such a car? Not to my knowledge but I suppose it's possible.
Did Chevrolet sell such a car to the public? ABSOLUTELY NOT. PERIOD.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: LLC Corvette
I am begining to think this whole thing was a fake. They showed pictures of this car on the TV special 'The woodward dream car criuise " which takes place in Detroit yearly.Pictures of the LCC Corvette were shown and the narrator said it was a Corvette build and sold by GM. It was suppose to have been restored to its original condition and priceless. I dont know if they were saying it was a one of a kind car, but it looked like any other 68 Corvette except it had slicks and black rims and it looked as if the exhaust did not even have headers. It just appeared to exit near the rear wheels. A quick shot of the motor gave me the impression it was and L88. It had that dome type carb. But I agree 11 seconds were times dragsters were doing in the 1960s not Corvettes.- Top

"One-of-a-Kind" cars built by major manufacturers are very rarely, if ever, sold to the public. Certainly, no such car built in 1968 would have been sold to the public in that year.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: LLC Corvette
I think you're referring to the car MasterWorks recreated a few years ago. There was an article on it in one of the magazines. If I remember correctly it was an engineering car, but not sold to the public. Some of the Michigan members were involved, if I am not mistaken.

Re: LLC Corvette
You're probably going to find that it was a ZL1+ with a Turbo 400 assembled by ZAD for the '69 press preview - probably for the main purpose of scaring media folk. Doubtful that it was ever sold, inasmuch as it couldn't be licensed.- Top

Re: LLC Corvette
Correct! The car was built for the purpose noted, impressed the hell out of the gathered press and allowed all of them to blast 11-second 1/4-miles at the Milford test track (with a drag strip set up on the North-South straightaway), and was never seen again. Werner Meier and his Masterworks gang (with help from Denny Davis, Gib Hufstader, Bill Howell, and other members of the original gang) built an exact replica of the car, which was shown and discussed at great length in November, 2014, at the "NCRS Horsepower Wars" seminar sponsored by the Michigan Chapter at the Pro Team facility in Napoleon, Ohio.- Top

Re: LLC Corvette
Photo below was taken of the replica at the "Horsepower Wars" event at Pro Team a year ago last November - the car even has 180* headers, as the original did. Werner Meier can supply further detail - he and his Masterworks guys built the car.
