Another random 63' Grand Sport question (wheel weights)

I have seen several modern pics of the Grand Sports with stick on wheel weights....Did the cars back in the 60's come up with stick on or rim weights on inner or outer edge, which the factory cars left with???
    Thanks to all

Adhesive-backed lead wheel weights were definitely around in the 60's. Most aftermarket "mag" wheels used them.

I don't know of any PRODUCTION cars of the 60's, and certainly not Corvettes, that used adhesive-backed lead weights as a factory-installed item. 1964-67 Corvettes with aluminum wheels used clip-on type weights.

As far as the 1963 Grand Sports are concerned, I don't know what type weights were used. However, the 1963 Grand Sport was anything but a PRODUCTION car. Vehicles of this type often use a bevy of non-PRODUCTION type parts.

Grand Sports equipped with the traditional Halibrand wheel, had weights retained by a stud and nut arrangement for positive retention of the weights. See the following picture:

See those nubs off to the sides of each of the five wheel spokes? On the back side of each nub is a threaded stud. Weights with holes through their centers were slipped over the stud and a small nut screwed on. Simple. Effective.

I believe the clip on weights were called Micro weights and were measured in Oz's
