Joe, You were right about the hydraulic cam. I learned something. There was at least one bought new in Jackson MS. Owner kept it a few years and traded it like we did back in the day.

Hopefully it all works out in the end. Sometime there is going to be a 50th anniversary of Z16 cars. I think it's going to be in Chicago at the Corvette and muscle car madness?

From the 1973 parts book

The LIST-3310, part number 3878261 is correct for a 1965 Chevelle (396). The LIST-3130, part number 3869933 is for a full size Pass. w/Sp. H/Per. (396) to quote the parts book. I do not believe either of these used the same choke arrangement as the 3124.

Here's a photo I found on the internet of the engine compartment of a Z-16 Chevelle. Note there is a choke tube on the right side (insulated with asbestos). I can't see exactly where the tube terminates on the lower end but it pretty much must be at the exhaust manifold.
