    63 Water Pump

I just noticed a leak from the right gasket on my water pump.

Has anyone successfully put in new gaskets without removing the hoses?

    Thanks

Harry, I myself have never done before but sure that its possible. I would say remove the fan and clutch to give you a little room to clean surfaces.

      Ed, thank....

The clutch, fan and pulley is out. I need to loosen the A/C compressor bracket for clearance and drain the coolant.

I have the gaskets and RTV, just looking for some opinions.

      Cheers

Why not take a extra five minutes and remove the lower hose so you can do the job right. That way you can ensure you got good clean mating surfaces on both block and water pump. I can't see why you would risk it

Took about 1.5 hours today to disconnect the pump, clean it up and reinstall it with new gaskets and red RTV. Just went for a test ride and all appears fine. It took a bit longer as I had to work around the A/C compressor racket.

A longer ride is planned for tomorrow.
