    Jack fit

My Brother in law has a real nice '64 and is now looking to get a jack for it. Originality is not an issue to him. He is prepared to buy a repro but wants to know if other year jacks will strap in under the spring or not. C3 jacks are OK by him if they'll fit. Thanks!!

Tom, I have not installed a later jack before, but a later C3 jack may be a safer bet. and they have more beef than the C2's. I would say try your 72 jack as a trail fit.

You got me. I haven't taken my jack out since I put it in. Just trying to be lazy!

Tom, If you are going to drive your car the C3 jack is much beefier. Much stronger. I remember in the old days jacking up a midyear and the cheap jack would bent quite easily. John

The reproduction type 1 jacks they are selling now have a tag on them which says not to use as a jack so if this is intended for actual use you would be better off with a C3 style.

Thanks guys, will a C3 jack and wrench fit under the spring and not be a rattling mess? Guess that should have been my question. Thanks!!

              Tom

I use the larger c3 jack from a 1977 Corvette on my 67, it will fit under the spring just fine. I can't guarantee it won't be a rattling mess however.
