Question for our "Front End Alignment" experts.

Just got done completely rebuilding a 1977 GM vehicle with all new front end suspension parts. (Will call it a Corvette) Trying to
get everything aligned to get it within the "Ballpark" before we take to an alignment shop. Measured the camber at the wheels (on flat
surface) with bubble level and looks to be within reason. Same amount of shims in the A-Arms on both sides. When I take it for a
short ride the tires "squeal" when turning in either direction. Question: If one had to take a guess would it be "toe in" or "caster" that is causing the squeal??
    Please advise and thanks--Larry

If you just want to get it close enough to drive to the alignment shop you can use a tape measure but if you want to get it close enough to drive you can use the string box method(google it) or make a homemade toe bar.

Does it take a special tool to turn the sleeve? If so what is it called? Can I buy at parts store? Larry

Any pliers or channel-loks will work. Just use a tape measure and a helper to measure distance at the front and rear of the tires. Make some reference marks on the front and rear tread surface of each tire to help out. Then set for about 1/4 inch toe-in total.

You can play around to get the steering wheel centered if you desire.........requires adjusting each side the same amount in increments to get the steering wheel centered.
