Could someone explain how to aim the headlights on a 64 vette coupe? Iwas told you have to be 25 ft. from a wall and be on a level surface. Could it be done any closer since my driveway is pitched and my garage isn't that long. Thank you' Ron

Re: aiming headlights
There is a reason for the 25' distance.....it gives you the proper 'cone' of light to make the adjustment. Those headlights aren't lasers and there is some "Kentucky windage" in assessing the proper aiming position. Shouldn't be that hard to find a vertical white surface with 25' of level ground in front of it for temporary use...- Top

Re: aiming headlights
All right, once you got car on a level surface 25' from a wall, how high up on the wall should center of headlight beams hit? Low beam and high beam.

Re: aiming headlights
It depends on the individual car's height. Its not a specific number of inches. Also helps to have tires inflated properly and 1/2 tank of gas...
Its completely covered in your '64 shop manual with illustrations and adjustment method....once the car is positioned its a 15 minute job...

Re: aiming headlights
Should have said, but mine is a '67. The '67 (and '66-don't have the '64) Service manuals are about using the old AIM devices for aiming. All I could pick up is that "high beam cone should be 2" below centerline at 25 ft." This contradicts the Advance Auto thread above which says LOW beams should be 2" below centerline. Could someone give method of adjusting both low and high beams?
