New Paint Judging

I read in The Restorer that there are changes in how paint is going to be judged. I'm just a simple man and would like some further explanation. Seems like old criteria of just whether it looks factory was pretty straight forward. We're not going back to try to judge which actual material was used, are we? Please explain.

Nothing to to with material. If you are familiar with the decision tree a new leg has been added to the NO side and the percentages have changes.

As I recall the yes side is either 0 % or 20%. The no side will be either 30%, 70 % or 100%. Looks as if the new system better helps the owner that really tried harder to match the factory application of materials.

The change is to go into affect after the 2016 National.

Thanks, but how about going through the decision tree and pointing out old vs new criteria. Would like examples, also.

The new decision tree was presented at the National during a Technical School, there were no handouts as it is still a year away.

There is nothing to compare except the percentages at this point in time. Ask you local chapter Judging Chairman for a copy of the current decision card to get you started.
