    C2 Exhaust Clamps

I would swear that I saw an ad in the current Driveline for someone producing 2" and 2-1/2" exhaust clamps with fine threads, but I can't find it now. Anyone know who may have these?

    Thanks-Doug

Doug, I just saw a ad in the new driveline, there is someone who is reproducing them. it was with a add for electric antenna repairs.

I am really curious to read any reviews of the reproduction clamps.

Only three 2" left and four 1 7/8" straps in stock......

Like to know what cars used the 1 7/8" size guillotine clamps?

I'm also looking for 2-1/2", but after looking at your ad from the link you provided, I'm confused. Your ad in Driveline, page 15 says "Correct mid-year exhaust clamps", shows 2 complete clamps, and also describes the threads. In the link you provided it seems that the "U" bolts are not included, only the guillotine part. Is that correct, only half of the clamp? And no 2-1/2" complete or partial clamps are available?

                      Doug,

I have no connection with the Driveline ad you're referring to. The link I pasted is mine, and can be found here, on the online classified section.

Your original post asked for both 2 and 2 1/2" clamps, why I stepped in. The only parts I have available are the 2" lower straps only, no "U" bolts nuts or washers. I had been on the search for complete sets of 2 1/2 " guillotine clamps for my car also, but was lucky to have collected them over the years.

Good luck, hope this straighten out your confusion.

                        Re: C2 Exhaust Clamps

                        Hi Kevin,
                        Sorry for my confusion.

Since this is a topic of interest for several people, I'll share what I have found.

I have a set of 2-1/2" clamps from LIC. They seem to have a more or less correct guillotine section (I have not yet measured it) and more or less correct shoulder nuts. I lost points during judging with the comment "SB (should be) fine threads".

I found a thread in a forum search this morning "Exhaust Clamps" started by Gerald Avery on April 15, 2014. In it David Lukonien (sorry about the spelling if you read this David) posted some photos and dimensions of clamps. He and others believe that the U bolt should be 5/16"-18; 3-1/16" high; threads 1-3/8" long and the guillotine 1-9/16" high.

My plan is to measure the guillotine of the LIC clamp to see if it agrees with the presumably correct dimension.

In an on-line search I found "U" bolts available from Chicago Hardware that are 2-1/2" wide (inside width), 3-3/16" high (long by 1/8" verses the dimensions in the 2014 thread); and thread length of 1" (short by 3/8") with 5/16-18 threads.

Based on this it may be possible to assemble a "correct" clamp, or at least one that may pass judging. If thread length is an issue on the Chicago U bolt, more threads could be cut.
                        Doug

In general if you look up the part number the size information will be there also.

Greg Thompson's exhaust clamps are spot on and great for judging.
