    63 Speed Warning Buzzer Wiring

Does anyone have a picture or know where I can find one of the wiring diagram of how this connects?

As i remember, the blue wire plugs into the tach and the pink wire goes to the ACCES. terminal of the fuse block.
The actual buzzer bolts with two bolts to the crossbar behind the cluster.

My '63 Dr. Rebuild schematic calls this options the "Hi Performance Tach Buzzer Harness"; it shows two connectors at each end of the harness that consist of a purple wire and yellow wire. The drawing states that one end goes to "Connector on Tach Gauge" and the other end to "Connector on Tach Buzzer".

Depending on the serial number the early L76 and L84 cars had the buzzer setup. As time went on in 63 some of the Tach's came without the buzzer, then they came with the buzzer but no wiring. early cars prior to aprox to vin 4805 had the complete setup.

Thanks Bob. the Pink wire was the confusing part.

My 63, the LWC (little white car for your new guys) has a NOS buzzer tach in it. But it's really a service replacement as most of the NOS parts are for '63 it seems.
The colors of the hi-rpm area are not the same as typical.
Should not be on the car but sure looks pretty. That tach was bought by a buddy of my in the late 60's from Chevy. Just a little trivia John.

Isn't the buzzer the silver relay looking thing bolted to the cross member behind the dash cluster?

Correct, the buzzer is behind the dash and has a zinc plated cover.

This pic (from Monte Marin) shows the components. The cylindrical plug plugs into the hole in the cluster just above and to the left of the tach drive in the pic. The other end plugs into the three prongs on the buzzer. The other single plug goes to the junction block.

Re: 63 Speed Warning Buzzer Wiring

Should be the same harness and relay used later for 67 speed warning option. Although in Mikes photo the connector that plugs into the back of the cluster is different than the 67 speed warning pan. It is a slide on type of connector in 67, actually exactly like the pin on the top of the temp send units on the intake manifold. And of course its located just above the speedo cable.

Although it appears the intent was to use two screws to mount the relay, I usually find just one used as its an add on and the harness ground is already in the other hole.

Pretty sure that same buzzer was used 68-69 speed warning also. Pretty silly option as a tach buzzer or speed warning, who could hear it? Its not very loud.
