General question on Front End Camber Adjustment on GM Product.

On a GM product when the front wheels tilt inward at the top the camber is said to be "negative". From the service manual I need
to add shims at the 4 corners of the "A" arm to increase camber. My question is: Should the vehicle be lifted off the ground by placing jack stands under the frame? I have "searched" this subject and have come up with various answers. My shims are on the
outside of the frame and on the passenger side it looks like it would be hard to loosen the nuts w/o lifting the vehical to get some clearance to put a socket on it. Comments Please and Thanks in Advance. Larry

Best place to jack it up is under the lower control arm, as close to the ball joint as reasonable. Jacking it up this way will take all the load off the upper control arm and make shim changes much easier.

Shims on the outside must not be a Corvette.
I have found it is sometimes necessary to pry the upper inner control arm away from the shims once the nuts are loosened.
Snap-on makes a real nice wrench for close quarters suspension work, but a ratcheting Gear Wrench can sometimes work as well.
Be sure to add the same amount of shims to both front and rear in order to only change camber. You will have to reset the toe after adding the shims.
