    Dave,

I hope you found a solution for your problem.

    Ken,

I have some experience with Holley carburetors and I can tell you there are also other ways to close the primary throttle blades without changing the A/F ratio in the idle circuit.

I think everyone is just saying try the simple things first.

Just found out a plastic baffle was left off the carb rebuild. Had a C2 carb guy go through it. Apparently some 2818 carbs had this baffle which is an anti slosh piece. A change was made somewhere along the line, the diagram for the rebuild did not show a baffle. Thanks for your advice

Gotta try the simple things first, lower the primary and secondary float levels three flats on the adjusting nut, turn the assembly clockwise to lower.

If it has the brass lock nut loosen it and with a screwdriver turn the assembly clockwise 3/4 turn. Only do one thing at a time so you can go back if it does not correct the problem.
The hex nut turns the assembly (raises and lowers), and the slotted screw head locks the adjustment.

Dave I once had a engine dying problem with my 1970 350/300 with turbo 400. Only happened coming of the interstate on the interstates off-ramp. Nearly stopped the engine would die, it would start up with no problems. After I removed the distributor and placed the correct shims above the distributor gear to replace the wide gap I had no more problems of the engine dying coming off the interstate onto the interstates off ramp.
Was this my dying problem, don't have a technical answer, but the addition shims stopped my dying engine coming off the interstate.
