Re: What have you done?? Share your experience
Sorry to hear you are having to sell yours cars. Unfortunately, we'll all arrive there at some point. I've had my 1960 for over 40 years and have been toying with the idea of parting with it. With the exception of a couple, all the cars I've sold have been by word of mouth from those that know my cars and my work. Advertising seems to bring out all kinds of people that I prefer not even having them on my property let alone in my shop looking at my cars. I think the NCRS network would be a good starting point and you've already started by posting here. I wouldn't be surprised if your post didn't generate interest in both cars. Good luck.- Top

Chuck,
Truly sorry to hear about your health issue. Our good health is our biggest blessing and so many of us take it for granted until we start losing it. With that said, you own two of my all time favorite cars and if I had the room (and, the money) I would be more than happy to care take them. May God speed your road to health and best of luck getting your treasures to their new, and very fortunate, owner.Leif

Re: What have you done?? Share your experience
Chuck, I am very sorry to hear you feel you have to part with your children. That has to be painful - I wish you would reconsider, perhaps other members or car enthusiasts near you can assist with the occasional maintenance and allow you to keep them as long as you like. That said, if you do proceed with parting with them now, I don't have a suggestion on how to to do that as you request but I can tell you that once advertized, you will very likely be contacted by brokers and specialty car sales companies offering to take them off your hands under consignment with promises of the highest possible price. Just something you need to be prepared to deal with. In my 3 year search for the car I eventually purchased I had numerous private sellers tell me that they were hounded by these traders that just flip cars all day long.
Best wishes for what ever you do.Ed- Top

Chuck,
Surely some local guys or gals have admired your cars thru the years and expressed a desire to own them. Make contact with someone in a local club and market them locally.

Re: What have you done?? Share your experience
Chuck: Sorry to hear about the health issue - because of the quality of the car and your original owner status, I know a # of folks that might be interested. If you'd like to have me contact them and tell them to get in touch, shoot me an e-mail with the price range and how you want to be contacted. Did you ever do anything with the seat trim? loren.lundberg@cox.net- Top

Re: What have you done?? Share your experience
Chuck,
I recently sold my 57 FI which I had owned for 15 years by advertising in the NCRS Driveline. I had four people who came and looked at the car and the fourth one bought the car. It was a pleasant experience and the advertising is free to members.
Best of luck to you,
Ron- Top

Jim & Ed;
Thanks for your replies. I would hope to find an acceptable buyer thru "word of mouth" for the reasons you both pointed out. I sure don`t want to deal with car flippers, etc and those who try to beat me down on price. Again, my primary objective is to find an owner who will appreciate, maintain and take care of the cars.
