    57 Radio

I had my radio restored in my 57. I just got around to putting it in but Im not getting anything. I hooked up an external antenna thinking it would help but nothing. I can hear a slight hiss out of the speaker with my ear to it. VERY frustrated!!! Any suggestions?

    Just some suggestions:
    1. If it was restored by someone in your area, I would take it back and have it bench tested.
    2. Check all the tubes to make sure they are good.
    3. Make sure your car antenna is connected and grounded properly.

      Some more suggestions:

      1. Ditto-take it or send it back to who you paid to fix it!
      2. Make your car a radio delete.
      3. Sell it on E-bay for a core!

Sometimes just reseating all the tubes will fix things..... Happens in my 60 periodically.

Try triming (adjusting) the antenna with the screw on the bottom (I think) of the radio.
Be sure the antenna is fully extended.

If he's getting nothing then the above won't help. Grab the antenna, with the radio on, & see if it works. If it does , then he's got an antenna problem.I also suspect the on/off was damaged in shipment.

if I am not mistaken there is a small inline fuse between the radio pigtail and the power pak, check that it is good and you have that connection twisted and locked where they meet
