What is the purpose of the curls on the seven leaf spring? Why are the steel replacement non curled?

GM did it as a joke.....He guys watch this, in 40 years people will be "out of their minds" over analyzing these curls.

Why are the steel replacement non curled?

So you can lose a few judging points.

Frank, I would say that the spring ends would wear with the constant motion, and by rolling the ends this would stop this, also aid in making the constant motion quieter running.

My original 7 leaf spring still has prominent curls. I believe now after researching the curls are strictly for corvette steel spring vehicles I purchased a replacement from Bairs and it has no curls and it has a binder on one end. I called Bairs and they said , in so many words we do not know? Last purchased from them.
