The Car is Packed and Corvettes at Carlisle Awaits

[B]The Car is Packed and Carlisle awaits ! I am planning to attend Corvettes at Carlisle this August 27-30, 2015. I plan to be on the road for about 14 days. ( August 14th to Sept 1) [/B .

Even though I have owned my car for 45 years, I have never been to Carlisle. I hope to have a mini reunion with many of my hosts from the 48 State Tour. Let me know if you are going !

]If you have owned your corvette for 30 or more years, I would like to stop by and add you to my research on long time Corvette Owners.

The map shows the general route (not roads yet) I am taking, PM me with your town and I will put it on the map. Once the map has enough dots on it.

I will plan the actual route. More information to come as I add details and dates of travel. I used this method to travel to all 48 states, and Europe to document these cars and owners. I will be posting to 9 US and European Corvette Forums as well as Facebook. Here are is a link to my web page with details . of my trips to Europe and NCRS National Convention.

Map link- Just click on it. PM with your town and I will put your town on the map . The route shown is just a general direction. Actual roads traveled later. ( I will not post your address , just town)

"The Car is Packed and Carlisle Awaits" Corvette Vagabond's first time attendance at Corvettes at Carlisle. Trip starts in Cape Elizabeth , ME, travels as far west as Ohio, comes through Pittsburgh, Carlisle, D.C and many stops on the way back to Maine.

    Jack,

    You won't be disappointed!

Make certain to stop by the NCRS Gallery Collection in the old dealership building by Gate 1. I know you'll like what you see!

    Regards,

    Kevin

We've been attending Carlisle for many years - you are in for one of the Corvette experiences of your life. I'll be heading down from Syracuse, NY. We typically stay in Harrisburg at the same nice hotel . . . lots of "other stuff" for the wife to do and only a short drive to the show. Enjoy the drive, enjoy the show, see ya there!

I have always heard about this Carlisle show, but it is so far away, maybe someday when I have more time to drive.

Jack, Looks like you have utilized every inch of space in the rear of the Corvette, good luck on your trip. I commend you on the miles you have put on your corvette, I would think that there is no one else that can claim that you are the KING of road trips.

Spot K40/41 is in the (massive) swap area. It'll all make sense to you as soon as you arrive. Rows are arranged alphabetically. Ironic selection of photos in your post. The silver C3 is Jeff Salz's '69. Spot K40/41 is actually Jeff's spot, so you hit the nail on the head!.

I see your cell number is the same as before. Mine is too. You have it, yes?

Tip: make a list of parts and stuff you want/need now. You'll likely find what you need there. Packing it to get it home in your vagabond chariot will be another matter.

                          PM sent.

I won't be bringing either Corvette. It might rain

Actually, I'm bringing my Audi Allroad. Have to transport people back and forth from motel to fairgrounds each night/morning and I'm bringing another guy with me plus some stuff to swap.

                            Hi Don,

A walk down memory lane, I look forward to seeing all of you. This was at the NCRS 2011 National Convention , I was invited as a guest speaker on my 48 State trip.

Well , I snuck out to the garage to play with Peter and the boys. No one is home and I thought you would like to know more about the NCRS convention.

My host for my stay in Novi, was Don Lowe, a member of the Michigan chapter of NCRS that was hosting the convention. Don invited me to visit last summer and many of the Michigan Chapter showed up with their cars on Woodward Blvd. to greet me.

Don had also entered his 72 for Top Flight Judging and was awarded the Blue Ribbon. Now he can drive his car in any weather..........

I also learned a great deal about NCRS, the judging, the political aspects, the modelers, the drivers and the many facets of the organization.

Some members belong to have their car judged and that is all
Some join for the social aspects
Some join for the judging and steps to move up to become a master judge
Some join for the knowledge and help that can be available to restore our cars

It may not be the cup of tea for everyone, but I certainly respect and admire the hard work that many of the members do, to promote NCRS goals, even though I may not understand how you can just look at a car and not drive it.

My presentation was well received and I had a great time telling stories about my travels and the many great people that I had met along the road. I was not able to tape the presentation, but the slides are available at the NCRS web site.

I will post more on my trip back to Maine later. Ops, I hear sounds , better get back to the house

                            Jack
