    Re: C2 Vent window weatherstrip

    Ed,

My weatherstripping came from Paragon. I am going to order a replacement from Metro and see if it is any better. When I looked at mine the other day, it seemed real "fat" at the bottom. Surprisingly, the passenger side fits well. I really don't see how one would trim down weatherstripping. I think it would have to be cut, as sanding would be impossible. What would you use, and X-Acto knife? If you have any ideas, please share them.

      Denny,
I don't get it - it appears to me that there is a quality control issue with vent window weatherstrip from Paragon. I haven't attempted to "modify" the WS in the right window yet and, I agree with you, sanding it probably won't work.

I did a bit more research on this issue and discovered a thread in the archives written by Roger Piper back in April 2013 titled "C2 Convertible Vent Window", (https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...ow-Rubber-Seal). Roger had a whole bunch of window and glass alignment issues but in the course of his discussion he made a comment regarding WS. He said, "advice of buying only "Corvette Rubber" vent window seals". Corvette Rubber is the name of a manufacturer. Don't know who advised him to go there for his WS but if you read through his thread it appears he was very satisfied with the fit.

I found a website for "Corvette Rubber" - it is:http://www.corvette-rubber.com/ - this is a real austere website - no pics or catalog, just a bunch of listings for various parts. They are not cheap, a set (2 pieces) for one vent window costs $75.00.

You indicate that you are going to order a replacement from Metro - please let us know how that works out, if they fit better than Paragon's stock. I am inclined to return the left side that I haven't installed back to Paragon and get new WS for both sides from another vendor - trying to decide where to get it from, your input about Metro stock will be of help to me.

        Denny,
As a follow-up to your comment, I looked at Metro's website and went through their entire on line catalog and could not find vent window WS for C2s. If you find the parts via Metro would you please list the part #s.

        Thanks
        Ed

          Ed,

I couldn't find it either. I am going to call them and ask if they have it and if they supply (or used to supply) Paragon. If I get a wrong, or even evasive answer, I'll continue looking.

Metro doesn't make that C2 vent window weatherstrip - Corvette Rubber is the only manufacturer, and they sell to many vendors.

I wonder if Corvette Rubber is the "only" manufacturer and if no, does it supply Paragon. If Corvette Rubber is Paragon's supplier then I think we are toast. If no -then find out who they do supply and get the parts from them or directly from Corvette Rubber. Why does this have to be so difficult.

                Ed -

Nothing difficult about it - like with many other parts, there's only one manufacturer (Corvette Rubber), who sells to all the retailers, so that's all you're going to find out there; it doesn't matter who you buy it from - you'll get the same part.
