Windows on my '62 rattle like crazy. Will replacing felt in the rear runner cure this? Seems like that wouldn't keep the frame from hitting at trim on top of door, but I certainly defer to those with experience. Thanks in advance. Charlie

Re: 1962 window rattle fix?
Charlie,
Both the front runners and rear felts are likely worn and causing the rattles. However, a pretty tedious task do do all 4 parts as the door posts must be removed, which means the windows must come out too. It's also possible you have a broken runner wheel or other loose part.
If you feel adventurous I have some info that may help Here and Here and Here.

Richard,
Your help "here", "here" and "here" is extremely detailed - I am in the process of replacing weather stripping and felt in a 64 convertible - not fun and not at all similar to the C1 steps you describe so well. By chance, you wouldn't happen to have similar instructions for C2s do you? I've downloaded several pdf files that apply to C2s for this procedure but they aren't near as detailed as yours.Ed- Top

My 62 windows also rattled, rebuilt them over the window and added hush mat to inside of door. Now when I shut the door it sounds like a luxury car instead of a clunker. Followed Richard's articles and although frustrating at times it is very doable. It still amazes me that vendors get a lot of money for the whiskers and you have to modify them cause they are wrong. If you take on this project feel free to contact me, there are a couple of errors I made that will help you.

The rest of the pieces are totally different, even between years.......'63 only inner and outer wipes for instance. I think if you take your time when you remove the pieces, take notes and pictures for reference it can help. If you have specific questions, it may be best to start another thread so you can get a wider audience.

Re: 1962 window rattle fix?
All 3 of Rich's articles are excellent. I would start with one door only. Take off the door panel, roll the window all the way up, remove the large access plate. Take off the two screws that hold the rear channel in place, and work it down and out. Redo the felt liner and reinstall. Go for a drive, and it should make a big difference. At that point you can determine whether that was enough and put the door panel back on, or you can continue to go farther. That's how I would begin.- Top
