3839175 Water Pump Usage on 1964 365hp327 and 375hp327 Corvette Engines?

Your input please! Although this has been beaten around over the last 20+ years, your opinion is appreciated.

What is the present NCRS expert opinion as to the usage of the 3839175 water pump on 1964 Corvette 365hp327 and 375hp327 engines? The pictures show the 3839175 casting and the original engine from 1964 Corvette #15,153 that I had owned with the original 3839175 water pump. What other water pump castings would have been installed at the Flint engine plant on these engines?

Did all 1963 Corvettes with the 340hp327 and 360hp327 engine use the 3782609 water pump?

What water pump(s) was used from the start to the end of 1965 Corvette production on the 350hp327, 365hp327 and the 375hp327 engine?

    William,

Can't understand why the experts don't answer on this simple question. Maybe they are not taking the bait!
Change the artificial to worms. Maybe that will catch a carp or drum!

Guess they're still trying to sell their stash of 326 pumps? Wonder how far into 65 model run the 175 may go?

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!

OK, I'll step out and say that 609's for 63's ONLY SHP and FI. Early 64's had 609's for SHP and FI with the 326's in sometime mid to late 64.
175's Just don't know but each of these used on Corvettes had 1/2" pipe thread elbows for the bypass.
It will be hard for anyone to say that my 63-65 has the original water pump unless it has been rebuilt maybe two or three times.

Bill -- About that 4th picture you posted; the window sticker of '64 VIN 15153, a black/black fuelie tanker. Was that the car that hammered at $420+K at the Mecum auction 6 months ago ? As a Bartlesville OK native, do you remember it back then ?

Interesting picture in Noland Adam's book on top of page 227, shows a 'prototype' 1964 L76 engine with what appears to be a '175' water pump, taped off on top. The round flat top is different from 609 due to a lack of the step below the area that the bypass hose screws into and is also longer. This looks like the 'GM1' casting with a slight round nub on the front of the casting. The 609 has a pronounced step in this area and a nub also. On page 229 top pictures shows also what looks like a '175' pump, notice the large flat area where the bypass fits into.
