    C4 Brake Master Cylinder-Replacement- HELP

any recommendations on where to obtain a good quality brake master cylinder. I am loosing small amounts of brake fluid over a period of time, enough to turn on all the brake light indicators; no leaks any where that I can see except once in a awhile under the car driver's side, but not under the master cylinder, a few inches slightly front and center, in fact I have no dang idea of how it gets there. the pedal seems to have a lot of travel, but will stay firm once you push on it, i don't feel that normal slow drift to the floor. Oh one more thing when idling in park, push the pedal and the motor sounds like it slows down, release teh pedal and it speeds back up it is very slight, but definitely there

i'm at a lose so I thought i would change out the master cylinder.

GM #18037322, aka Delco 18M732. This is an OEM-equivalent master cylinder. You should be able to buy one for about 250 bucks, or less.

By the way, another option for you might be having your existing master cylinder SLEEVED and rebuilt. I don't know if anyone is doing this yet for the 1984-96 style master cylinders. Someone like Lonestar Caliper should be able to tell you.

Dale, pull the master cylinder forward of the mounting and note if there is any fluid inside the booster cavity or wetness or the rear of master. that would be the first step. IF Not, try and start looking closely at the fluid drip you found and try to trace it back to where it is originating.

Got the new brake master installed, lines bled better pedal, fluid topped off and now I have a nice bright red "BRAKE" light lite on the dash. Brakes feel solid not spongy. I had to disconnected the one wire from the master cylinder in order to get the light to go off. it is the wire that is connect to the white sensor. right now I can not recall its name

            looking for ideas
