    '63 hood rear weatherstrip

Going through the latest JG (Version 6) and on page 129 the narrative concerning the hood weatherstripping differs from the picture provided. The narrative states the weatherstrip rounds both corners and goes down on each side to be parallel with the hood latch pins. The picture shows the weatherstrip cut off even at the corners (which is how my car has it)....what is up with this ???

Frank, I believe that is incorrect, My 63 had all the original weatherstripping when I restored, and the hood W/S stopped at the hood pins. did not round the corner.

IF it is correct, it would only be for late cars not equipped with hood guides/wedges. Was this changed after the 5th Edition?

I have no idea; first JG I've ever even looked at -- others may know..

My Mar64 car, original, is the same as Ed's 63. I have never seen a 63/64 with the long weather stripping . . .

First time my 63 was restored we had the weatherstrip going down the sides of the hood. Was critized at a local show. Then I looked at a ton of 63's and didn't see one like that. John

OK...its all good then. Looks mine is applied correctly and I'll just have to find something else to worry about

It would be nice if we could get the J/G corrected to reflect what was done at the factory. If you're looking for something to sink your teeth into, maybe you can try that?...

Tracy, I know the first thing that needs changing before the JG will change to accurate. BoB J

Now Bob you had better be politically correct here and keep it to technical stuff or Don Hooper will delete your post!

I think Don Hooper does an excellent job policing a bunch of grouchy old men.
He is much more tolerant than moderators in the past.
If you remember,it wasn't that long ago that Michael Hanson got kicked off this board for speaking the truth.
                      Don Hooper has my respect.
