Is this a correct original 091 coil for 63??

    Hey Fellas,

Can anyone tell me if this is an original and correct 091 engine coil for a 63? Also, any idea on how to test it when it's out of the car?

    thanks so much!

I vote yes but you are missing a few small pieces for wire connection.

I understand there was a time in 1963 where the 091 coils did not have the 2 holes at the 2 connection posts.
      Anyone have info on that?

Bruce, The earlier version of the 091 has the two holes for the retainers. So then why would DR discontinue the holes for a time in '63?

That's so new info Bruce. Now to see what the guru's say about that. John

John, One way to test the coil is to use the specs in the shop manual. THen get a good digital Ohms tester.
For example the specs in the Corvette Servicing Guide for the 097 have:Primary Resistance-Ohms 1.02-1.13
        My coil reads 1.1
Secondary Resistance. DR = 8000-10500. My coil reads 9000 plus.
Now I realize there is more to testing a coil than this is a start. Another good way is to try in on the car. JD

The "shoulders" definitely are indicative of a 63 (late 091). I think it's correct.

Agree, it "appears" to be correct for late-1963 application, but missing some of the "hardware" as mentioned
