1963 wiper arms

My 63 Coupe has what appears to be the correct wiper arms. I noticed that they do not have the Trico back plate. They have the shiny finish and the adjusting screw. The back of the arm is open and the spring is exposed. My car is an early car...Nov. 6 1962.

My 67 has the correct arms with a back plate. So, my question is, did early cars not have the backing plate, or did someone take they off for some unknown reason?

I'm sure that if you look carefully at the back of the arm you can see the notch that the back plate was attached to the side of the arm. Have never seen any 63's with arms and no backplates.

Thanks Joe, I do have the notches...hoping that the covers were not removed. Anyone know where I can get a couple of covers?
