    Muncie M-21

    Hello,

I have my M-21 Muncie out on the bench and am replacing the seals. Two questions: What, or where can I get the bolt torque specs? Second, how much grease/ oil does it take?

On the second question, I know that when the transmission is in the car, the rule is one knuckle down from the fill plug. How about when it is on the bench?

Nominal capacity is 2.5 pints. "Full" is with the oil (hot) at the bottom of the fill plug. Don't fill it until it's back in the car. Have you checked COM for torque specs?

      Hi Bill.
I just finished my complete M21 rebuild and found this source to be a wonderful help. http://www.5speeds.com/cart Paul is the owner and he has a good "how to" book available. The Corvette shop manual is also a good source for the bolt torque numbers. Best to work up to the final number in three stages.
