need AIM help for 67 BB hood seal

    Well,
Went page by page (again) and didn't find the correct length and conformation as to where the seal at the rear of the hood go's. My new one will have to be cut to length. I know it has to be there but I need help as to where.

It stops about as fair down as the push in clips

Dom - Are you talking about the rear seal that runs along the back of the hood and then turns a short distance forward alongside the hood pins?
I just looked at my 65 and 66 Coupes and on both I probably have the 'tails' running too far forward, mine both terminate near the forward-most rivet used to hold the threaded plate for those pins. I don't have a 67 Corvette but in the 66 A.I.M, on page F228 for Hood Catch & Hinge, it 'looks' like they have it ending opposite the pin. There's a small notation pointing to that end with '1 1/8 SV' shown, not sure if that's supposed to mean an inch and an eighth straight after the curve or ???

        Mike,
Thanks, I'm still confused. My hood frame (when I bought the 67 vette) was not attached from the total wreck that it was involved in. The car then was worth about $1,7050.00. I repaired the hood and put a new hood frame on it and didn't think I would forget something 44 years ago.
I am exhausted with the CORRECT... 90% of my resto is research.

I was an OJ at a chapter meet this past Saturday and helped on a 67 big block car. The guy judging the chassis said the hood weatherstrip should have a screw at each end of the weatherstrip. He said the weatherstrip should run just past the screw. Sure enough there was a hole just about even with the pins on each side of the hood under the weatherstrip. There were no screws in that car. I just looked at LICs catalog and they say they are the push in pins, their catalog item is 20-32. LIC references them for the 67 ONLY.

I looked at my small block 67 and I don't have the screw/pin, nor the hole.

              Dom,

Look at the attached picture. Found this on a search. It's from a mostly original 67 BB at a regional meet. You have to look close, and I put a red arrow where you can just see the push in pin/retainer.

                Don,
That picture is great. I thought I had to cut my strip, but I can see now that it is the right size.

Thanks guys. Surprised it wasn't in the AIM.

                  Don,
I have to look close at the pieces of my old hood frame. I thought the black went to the edge of the hood?

                    Dom -

Nope - it should be as the photo shows in post #7.

OOPS, I brought the black out to just under the edge.

                          Robert -

Yes, that's correct, and it's noted in the 5th Edition 1967 Judging Guide, along with photos of the rear hood seal and the hood paint margins.

That explains why my AO Smith 67 doesn't even have holes for the pins/clips
