While I have my guage bezel out to work on my clock (my latest in a long list of challenges) I noticed a light bulb socket hanging loose behind the dash. The socket was black plastic with no metal fastener tabs around it. My e-brake (warning) light doesn't work so I felt back behind the dash where a bulb would be and I felt the empty hole back there. I did get it in there but it doesn't feel as tight as it should. I tried to get the bulb to light with the ebrake on, and key on, and put the car in 1st gear, but nothing. I removed the bulb and put in another guage socket and it lit. Is the ebrake (warning) light tied to the seatbelt warning system? Should there be metal fastener tabs around that socket for ground?

Re: 73 Loose Light Bulb Socket Behind Dash?
Problem solved. The bulb in question was the dash brake light. I'm proud to say that it now works as it should. Took the console off to check the ebrake switch and sure enough BUBBA had been there as you guys sayWires were taped and not correctly connected to the ebrake switch. Made the connection and light works as it should. I must say that it has really been a fun learning experience working on this car and getting everything to work that hasn't worked properly for a long time. I now know how to take the C3 clocks apart and get them working again, can take the alarm horns apart and get them working as they should. I had to become somewhat of an AIR (smog) expert to get all that stuff together with the correct dates and part numbers, not to mention all the other correct engine bits and pieces. Still quite a few things to go and more $$ to spend. I couldn't have done many of these things without the help and expertise of you guys here at the NCRS.
