E brake cable nylon pulley advise

I purchased a new one. Then I found the original one. Dirt, faded and I believe black paint on it. There is stamped numbers and some words I can't make out due to the paint. Is there a way to clean this up and use it and get credit for in judging. Thank you in advance. So far I'm using everything that was on this car other than some stressed bolts. jeffimage.jpg

By the way is the bolt ,washer, nut and Ferrell black phosphate ?

    Jeff,

I looked at the judging sheets to help answer, and note that emergency brake cable/hardware/etc is completely missing from the sheets. So, at this point I think you could theoretically paint it pink and get full credit.

So, do as you best see fit.

        Jeff-------

Sure, you could clean it up and re-use it. I don't even think it would be too difficult. However, keep in mind that this is a nylon (i.e. PLASTIC) part that's almost 50 years old. These sort of parts become brittle with age. And, it's part of a SAFETY-RELATED system. Would I re-use it? Not a chance.

Yes, the bolt, washer, nut, and spacer were phosphate-finished.
