1962 differential fluid capacity

Anyone know the capacity for a 1962 differential?? I can't seem to find it in my service guide. The Chilton's for this year says 4 pints. I have a 340 hp with a 370:1 posi. I looked the forum info over and saw varying amounts. To put 4 pints in the car requires jacking up the rear. Does this sound correct?? When I pulled the carrier out to rebuild it, the fluid level was over the fill plug level. Don't recall ever seeing this?? I appreciate your feedback.

The 62 Owners Guide says 4 pints, I put 4 pints in mine last week, but it was already on jack stands with axle raised. It did not overflow.

Ray, with the car level and 4 pints does the gear oil not run out of the fill hole ?? I'll check my owners guide. Thanks for getting back with me.

In the past that is the way I filled it, till it ran out the fill hole.

I put 4 pints - per your owner quide suggestion and Chilton's. I forgot how informative the owner's guide is!!
