Should you lube the rubber o ring that goes around the inside / booster side / of the push rod ?
Or any other part of it for that matter ?

Somebody here must know ! Somebody here knows everything !

I called three brake shops . I got three answers. "Light lube" , "No lube" and "Don't know " .

    Thanks ,

    Jim

Jim, the Factory never used any lube, But I would used a light coating of Dielectric Grease on the o-ring and a dab of White lube on the end of shaft, anything that has contact surface won't hurt. and the O-ring install with the light coating of dielectric will help on install, and will have no effect on O-ring and may help from cutting the O-ring when installing shaft.

"the Factory never used any lube "

        Thanks Edward,

That is what I wanted to know . I read the service manuals , and they never mentioned a lube on reinstall , but it made sense to me to do it . So I was curious as to what was correct , and what was practiced ?

Jim, boosters where likely assembled by machines in mass Quantitys. Being in the auto trade i have had many master cylinders off GM cars through the 40+ years and have never seen any lube on the shaft tips, But anything to help a moving part move easier, or slide to assemble makes sense.
