Doing a frame off on a 69 350/350 and starting to reassemble chassis components. The TIM&JG does not mention the brake pads. Questions are 1) What was the finish on the steel backing plate? 2) Pads were riveted? and 3) Did the original pads have the stainless steel anti-rattle shims that come with current pads? Thanks for any information. Steve

Re: 1969 Brake Pads
Steve, the front backing plates were a dull zinc. as far as the pads go, They are really not a judged item and would tell you just install a quality set to keep away the squealing brakes. the original pad did not have a shim on the back of pads and were a organic type pad. and would tell you that a shim on the pad will modernize the pads and help with squeeling brakes. ceramic disc pads are a low dusting pad, and a semi metallic or metallic pad will leave dust on your wheels and sometimes cause noise. Go with what works better and quieter.Last edited by Edward J.; May 24, 2015, 04:27 PM.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
