Bought a reproduction "287" from one of the large vendors. Looks good, although a bit large still fits in the factory bracket with the factory screw on my 68 L-36 engine. Only problem is in its functionality, runs fine cold but after a good heat soak idle becomes unstable and engine falls on it face under heavy load. Re installed the parts store replacement unit(even larger diameter and have to use a longer screw to make it work in my factory bracket) and all is well again. Anyone else have a similar problem with these?

If this repro was made overseas, it it probably the same one that failed others. Should be in the archives here or Corvette Forum C2 Section.
FWIW.

Re: Reproduction "287" coil
I had a repro B-R 270 (70 L-46), ran good for about a year and then started failing in the upper rpm band.
I found an original that I use for judging and a 20yr old GM replacement that I use for every day driving.
The repro's seem to have a habit of failing early.- Top
