1958 Corvette Truck Lock

New some help and/or idea. My truck lock has been working fine and it was new. Went on a road trip today and now I can not turn the key in the lock. When I try to turn it real hard the lock twist. I have no idea how to get the truck open now to fix the issue. Any suggestions ?

Eric, Try pushing down on the trunk while turning the key.

If the lock cylinder retainer pops off, remove the lock. Then you can use a screwdriver to fit in the lock pivot to open it.

When you get the trunk open with Richards suggestion above....re-install with the small rubber gasket that Paragon offers for C1 door and trunk locks.....although the JM says it is not supposed to be there, it provides sufficient friction to keep the lock from turning in the first place. It also may be necessary to rework the lock retainer (on the backside of the lock, inside the trunk) to get a good fit and make sure the little sharp points dig into the aluminum lock groove. Whoever re-pop's these retainers did not do a good job....I've purchased a half dozen of them and they're all different.
