...one of the best and most colorful Corvette racers of the era. I still remember the articles he wrote for Corvette News about getting boxes of "special Corvette parts" from Duntov delivered to his Dallas dealership and racing the Grand Sport in Mexico in the mid sixties. I think it was either the last Carrera Panamerica, or a shorter open road race that replaced it.

John - I think the bumper was there to protect the radiator from low flying buzzards. That Mexican race was quite an experience, and he did a great job putting it into words. It was about 25 year later that I did my first open road race, but the 1989 Silver State Classic challenge was a lot more tame, and I didn't have to worry about buzzards.
