    1967 Vent window

Trying to wrap everything up on a 1967 Convertible Restoration and as luck would have it, the pin that the driver's side vent window pivots on (about halfway up the window frame) can off. Looks like it was originally soldered on. This pin is stainless and is mounted to the stainless window frame. Has anyone re-attached one of these or know how to do it? I assume I have to remove the window and frame, the weatherstripping, and re-solder it on. But before I muck it up, wanted to ask if anyone had done this before.
    Thanks,
    Lee

That pin is welded, not soldered, to the vent glass frame; Paragon has been fixing them for many years.

I agree with John....The pin is welded on....I have taken three of them to a local, PROFESSIONAL, welder who has successfully replaced them without any discoloration for $30 (his minimum charge) His method is to grind a small hole behind the piece (in the channel) and very carefully weld the piece from behind. Paragon's price is $95 + parts

The piece that Paragon welds on is a bit different, but not noticeable unless you know and really look.

On my coupe I think I used a SS rivet. Not sure but think the rivet came in a kit for another part, I used a rivet squeezer. Not sure if the convert is the same?

Took my vent window to a glass shop for glass removal. Stopped at a welding shop that welded the stainless steel pin back on for $20.00. Back to glass shop for reassemble. A little buffing around the weld and back in the car. Looks great to me.

The convertible pivot pin is a different design than the coupe.

                John,
That makes sence since both my vettes are coupes.
