73 Horn Relay Switch/Does It Need Replaced?

THE TITLE SHOULD READ ALARM RELAY SWITCH INSTEAD OF HORN RELAY. I recently replaced my door ajar switches and installed a new OEM rear alarm keyway, that I got from Pete Lindahl and everything worked great. The alarm sounded when a door or the hood was opened and the horn pulsed as it is supposed to. Then all of a sudden the alarm quit working. When I turn the alarm keyway, I can hear a slight clicking (chirp) sound under the right side of the car where the relay switch is located. The alarm horn is working, I tested it with a battery to make sure. Is it possible the relay switch just went bad? This system wasn't functional for a long time.

Problem solved. Just tapped on the relay switch lightly with screw driver handle then tried alarm, worked perfectly. These cars can sure drive you crazy at times.

Take the relay out of the car and pry open the metal cover. Inside there are a set of points. Use some fine sandpaper to clean the contacts, and put it back together.
      Good Luck.

        George,
Thank you for the tip. I will definitely keep this in mind if it malfunctions again. I've been arming and testing the system every so often just to keep things working.
