    Stu,

You can also check out this "dial" type timing light from Sears for $69.99.

I've had a few of the dial type ones over the years but a few years back bought a digital one and will never go back for one reason...the built in tach. Comes in real handy when playing with advance springs/weights. You can rev the engine until it stops advancing and with a touch of a button know exactly at what rpm the advance is "all in" at.

Frank, I'm closing on 76 now and am already getting flack from the family about driving my Vette, or for even working on it in the 90 plus heat. I look at that $100 as a couple good meals at Macs, Ha! If I buy one, I will probably only use it once to do A final dial in on my rebuilt distributor, and then it will take it's place in my tool box for my son to use again some day.

        Stu,

Most of the Auto Zones and OReilly's round here have loaner tools if you buys the parts to fix your car at their store. They ask for a deposit equal to the purchase price, but you get it back when the tool is returned.

Let's not kid ourselves; our 'hot' cars have cooled off a lot in 50 years. That kid in the ricer with the fart pipe and park bench rear spoiler, wearing his ball cap backwards with those Nancy-boy white sunglasses can suck out our windshields in an even-up sprint. Probably never even got his hands dirty on the car....

Just the way it is now...
