Gents: Is Eric Freeman still in business? I have called his number a few times and left messages. So far, no luck. Any guidance appreciated. Best, EWC

Re: Teak Steering Wheel for 1966, Messr. Freeman
Edmund,
Eric is still around . It took me a while to track down his phone number as he has moved and the number I had
( Teak Freaks I think ) no longer worked. I found it through the internet. I called Eric for a friend who wanted to buy my teak wheel , about a month ago . It took him over a week to get back to me , but he did. He said he was semi retired , but would still build one .
I think my friend passed as it was quite expensive, or at least too expensive for him and he really wanted an original one . I don't remember his phone # , but if you have it already , hang in there , he will call back , or at least he did for me a month or two ago .

Re: Teak Steering Wheel for 1966, Messr. Freeman
FYI - About 5-10 days ago someone on the Corvette Forum posted that he recently received a wheel from Freeman. He stated that was not nearly of the same beauty and appearance as Freeman's prior wheels, and posted some photos of the wheel. You might want to check that out and see what you think?- Top

Re: Teak Steering Wheel for 1966, Messr. Freeman
All: Eric Freeman just called me on the phone. What a nice fellow. He is no longer selling the '66 - '67 teak wheels and is moving on to other pursuits. He said he only got to do 1 or so a week; so it wasn't quite lucrative enough. He said that Doug Graves (519) 752-0780 (Canada) was who he recommended we call for a high quality teak wheel. So, you fellows who are fortunate enough to own a Freeman wheel, hang on to them because they are now highly collectible!- Top

Re: Teak Steering Wheel for 1966, Messr. Freeman
Did Eric Freeman sell his teak wood steering wheels at Carlisle many years ago?
I bought my teak wood steering for my 1966 about 15 or many even 20 years ago for about $450 or $500 at either the Spring or Fall Carlisle swap meet and it is of very high quality. The metal steering wheel frame on it was originally a standard plastic 63-66 Corvette steering. The vendor also sold teakwood wheels that were completely reproduction but I was not interested in them. As best as I can remember the vendor was from either Virginia, North Carolina, or somewhere in that neighborhood.
Back in 1981 I bought an original 65-66 Corvette teak wood steering for $150 from someone in Santa Monica, CA, but had to sell it during the 1990-1991 recession.

Re: Teak Steering Wheel for 1966, Messr. Freeman
Gents: I spoke with our neighbor to the North last night (Doug Graves) and ordered a wheel. Target delivery date is July. Doug's busy apparently. Thanks to the NCRS Member who sent me the PM offering to sell me an original wheel. It was a beauty, yet, I still have 2 more boys to get through school. Thanks for all the guidance fellows. The kind guidance from all over the last fees weeks on a wide vanity of topics has been just great!- Top
