Just noticed (item on eBay) that the envelope (on the back) has a date (3-16-66) just to the left of the part # (3834959). This one has the yellow key image on the front that says "Don't invite car theft". It's the same part # as an earlier plastic envelope I have (eBay & not Corvette, although I suppose it could be), dated 1-4-63.
I see that this part # on the plastic envelope is called out in the 1965 judging guide, 5th ed. and seems not to have changed over at least 3 model years, going by the above observation. No part #s are mentioned for the envelope contents -- Owners guide and Owner Protection Plan.
First question: did the envelope dating change often ? say, in step with each model year or even more frequently ?
2nd Q: does this mean that the owners guide can be either 1st or 2nd edition Corvette, not necessarily corresponding to the VIN range (in the case of a '65), and the protection plan booklet (incl. protect-o-plate) can be from a '65 Impala SS, with only condition being assessed ?
There's only 5 deduction points possible on originality and 5 on condition, so it's not a big deal. I ask just out of curiosity.
