    61 Gulf Oil car

There reciently was a post about the sale of 1962 Gulf oil Corvette being sold.Does anyone know where and whom owns the 61 Gulf oil car. I spoke to the owner about 10 years agoand saw the car at a car show on Long Island New York where I believed the car and owner lived. I believe only one of the 61 cars survived. The restoration and search was and amazing story which was worthy of being in Driveline. It was a day and event I will never forget.

You probably saw it when it was owned by Richard Prince, who also restored the car. It was sold a # of times, ending up in the hands of Dana Mechum, who ran it thru 2 or 3 of his auctions before selling it in a post-auction sale at Monterey 2 or 3 years ago. As far as I know, the car is in the Dallas TX area.

Believe they both belong to the same collection now.

Only one of the two 61's, and only one of the two 62's are known to exist. However, three of the two 63's are around. (Not a typo)

The same guy that owns the extra 63 might own the some of the extra L88s
