There reciently was a post about the sale of 1962 Gulf oil Corvette being sold.Does anyone know where and whom owns the 61 Gulf oil car. I spoke to the owner about 10 years agoand saw the car at a car show on Long Island New York where I believed the car and owner lived. I believe only one of the 61 cars survived. The restoration and search was and amazing story which was worthy of being in Driveline. It was a day and event I will never forget.

You probably saw it when it was owned by Richard Prince, who also restored the car. It was sold a # of times, ending up in the hands of Dana Mechum, who ran it thru 2 or 3 of his auctions before selling it in a post-auction sale at Monterey 2 or 3 years ago. As far as I know, the car is in the Dallas TX area. -

Only one of the two 61's, and only one of the two 62's are known to exist. However, three of the two 63's are around. (Not a typo)Comment
