C1 exhaust tone

installed a set of (cc) oval mufflers and pipes for my 62 340 motor.. seems to me the exhaust tone
sound like i have a rag shoved over the tailpipes. cheap fluttering sound
well, after debating on what to do, i removed the oval
mufflers and switched over to a set of round magna flows... mistake. these mufflers have no baffles and
it sounds like it to. i guess im getting to old to try to live as a teenager... what would be the right answer.
out of a lot of cash and still determined .. any input..... sound like crap

Why not use the round off-road mufflers that were a factory install on 62 340 and 360 hp cars? Central's sound just like the nos ones I have. Throaty but not obnoxious.

Yes - I have off roads on my '61 and the sound is perfection....

I agree with Mike and Frank about the GM off road mufflers. I've got a pair on my '60 and the sound is almost musical. Wonderful note. Never harsh.

My 60 has off road mufflers and they do sound very nice

I have NOS off roads on my '59 that I bought back in the early '70s when GM still had them in the catalog. I can't imagine having anything else on a C1.
