    James -- Why would you need to repeat the shot peening on original LT-1 half-shafts? The peening just makes the smooth tube surface look rough. Even if the shafts are somewhat rusty, the rough surface has not changed much. I would think that if you remove the rust with either bead blast or acid and then wire brush the shafts, they would look pretty much like freshly shot peened. Preventing new rust from forming immediately would be your next problem.

      Guy's here is a photo of my old 71 LT-1 the peening texture was not as pitted as Alan's photo. The texture would also vary as the shot was replaced or more added. On mine you can still see the original weld seam. Also in the second photo I did not see the original inspection green slash till the photo was taken. Pay no attention to the shocks they were HD service shocks made the car handle better.
