Mid-year antenna cable - best replacement

    Hello All,

I see antenna cable replacements offered by the various vendors' - some have a hex nut on the antenna end and others have what looks to be the correct round knurled nut, etc., but if I'm going to the trouble to replace it, I'd like to find the most correct midyear antenna cable for my 66.

Is the connection nut at the antenna end even judged? Is there any thing else one needs to consider when purchasing a replacement cable, or is a cable a cable?

    Much thanks for your help.

    Kurt,

Doubt if the coax connection nut under the antenna is much of a judging consideration. The impedance of the coax could be an issue in OPs or PV however. Antenna coaxes are not all equal. I would contact Jerry Rudbeck for some advice in selecting a good replacement. His email is jerry@electrodesign.us

Kurt, I think if you go to Jerry's website he may spell out what cables work correctly, and its very important for proper radio reception and operations because of the cable length.

I bought the one from LIC for my '67. No judging issues, and it works great, but is a PITA to install.

Kurt - if you are going to PV your car you should buy an original cable. the ones from LIC and others are thin and lack insulation. They work but AM might be an issue for PV with engine noise and turn signal pops and various other. Michael's suggestion on Jerry's website will help educate yourself. if not a PV what you get from the repop vendors is ok if all you're interested in is FM. again. - if you are going to do a PV find an original or OEM cable

              good luck Dan
