Would someone kindly post a picture of an original Hi/Lo dimmer switch for a midyear? This is for a '65 if that matters. I'm not sure what to look for as far as originality. Mine works just fine but something tells me it may be a replacement. If so I'd like to get the real deal. thanks Blake

Re: C2 original dimmer switch
Thanks Enzo, Any pics of the "cap" of the switch? I've seen pics of plain flat ones, Circular impressions, ext. Mine has a circular depression with a rectangular marking in the middle. I looked a previous judging sheet of this car from the prior owner but didn't find a thing except judging of the circular grommet .- Top

Re: C2 original dimmer switch
I'm not an expert, but I purchased two off Ebay. Both were advertised as NOS part number 1997028. however, I understand the one on the left is a later service replacement. Mostly correct except there is more of a dimple in the top of the cap. I believe the one on the right is a original (note the older box) and there is really not a dimple.
I'm not sure how one would judge versus the other.

Re: C2 original dimmer switch
thanks Donald, From your pic, the switch on the left looks what is currently installed in my car now; the one on the right (from previous responses) is likely the "factory original" correct one. thanks very much. Blake- Top

Re: C2 original dimmer switch
Enclosed are photos of an original 1963 Delco Remy dimmer switch from a June 1963 Corvair (GM # 1997028) that is 2.0" tall, an original 1965 Delco Remy dimmer switch from a July 1965 Chevrolet (GM # 1997037 but both GM # 3841892 & GM # 1997037 are shown in the 1965 Chevrolet Assembly Manual, UPC 12, B16) that is 2.5" tall, and an aftermarket made in U.S.A. GM dimmer switch (General Automotive Specialty Co., Inc. Part # 29030, stamped "157" on bottom) on the extreme right. The 1965 Corvette Assembly Manual on lists the 1997028 switch (UPC 12, B6).
Note that the base of the 1963 switch (GM # 1997028) is not the same as the 1965 switch (GM # 1997037). The base of the 1965 Chevrolet (not Corvette) switch is thicker and the 1965 switch is also 0.5" taller. Both switches have the Delco Remy logo on them. I also have a 1964 Chevrolet Delco Remy dimmer switch that is identical to the 1963 switch (2.0" tall, GM # 1997028) as well as a 1970 Camaro Delco Remy dimmer switch that is identical to the 1965 Chevrolet switch (2.5" tall, GM # 1997037).
The link below the two photos is of a NOS 1997037 Delco Remy dimmer switch that is currently of Ebay (not mine) that is the same as my 1965 Delco Remy dimmer switch.

Re: C2 original dimmer switch
I just bought an aftermarket dimmer switch for $11 that is very close in appearance to the 1997028 dimmer switch. The original Delco Remy dimmer switch from a Corvair (May-June 1963) in my photo measures 2.05" in length while the aftermarket one measures 2.10". The base of the aftermarket dimmer switch is just like the Delco Remy 1997037 dimmer switch.
