I went shopping for tires for my 67 with repro bolt-on aluminum wheels. I wanted 215/65R15 size because they fit well and look good on my friend's 65 396 with knock-offs. I discovered that the radial T/As in that size can no longer be ordered. The only other tire that the dealer knew of in that size was the Michelin Defender. He tried to order some, but Michelin told him they were not currently making them and they wouldn't know for ten weeks if they would be able to take orders. The salesman tried to sell me 225/70s instead but I knew they wouldn't likely fit. I didn't ask about 215/70 because I had my mind set on 215/65. I found the last set that the NTB store had in stock and bought them. They were made on the 44th, 45th and 47th weeks of 2014. If you are thinking about Michelin Defenders you should inquire about the size you want. Same probably goes for BFG T/As.

Re: Michelin Defender and BFG Radial T/A tires
I changed the original 3.70 ring and pinion for a 3.36 so I'll put a 3.55 speedo drive gear in the trans. I don't expect the speedo to be pefect.- Top

Re: Michelin Defender and BFG Radial T/A tires
Patrick - I have the BFGoodrich TA 215-65x15's on my 65 and 66 Coupes, both with repro KO's. The last time I bought them was about 4 years ago but just looked up the listing on TireRack.com and found them still listed. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...rer=BFGoodrich
When I was ordering TA's for my modified 61 Vette with Centerline rims, I found out the sizes I wanted were only produced a couple times per year since they weren't as popular as they once were.
The 215's-65s are shorter than the stock size used back in the 60's but I also like the slightly lowered look.Mike T. - Prescott AZ.- Top

Re: Michelin Defender and BFG Radial T/A tires
You need to find a new tire dealer, I first three local stores I checked with can get them, online Tire Rack, Tire Buyer and Cooker all had them. I run 245x60x15 on the back of my 62- Top

Re: Michelin Defender and BFG Radial T/A tires
Terry-- I'm sure the online dealers show them on their websites, but sometimes its a different story when you actually try to buy them. At Costco the the 215-65 Radial T/As were listed as only available for warrantee replacement. Unless Costco was dumping the whole BFG line, it seemed to indicate some kind of shortage. I run 245-60 T/As all around on my 70 also.- Top
