Re: How far do they stick out ????
Ray, I remember that at one time this was asked and I believe there was no definitive answer, but I recall about 4" beyond the bezel was the norm.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: How far do they stick out ????
Wouldn't this be the case with C2s? I thought the C3 only extended about 1 1//2'' beyond the bezel.Leif

If no definitive answer, I'd clear the bumpers (tip at rear edge)?- Top

Re: How far do they stick out ????
Hi,
I believe originally there was a 'kite shaped tab' welded to the top of the pipe coming out of the muffler.
A matching cut out in the top of the exhaust tip's pipe slid on to the muffler's pipe and tab. The tab set the angle and distance from the muffler of the tip.
I've 'felt' a tab with my fingers, but have never seen one.
This picture of my 71 when it was about a week old may give some indication of the distance the tips extended.

Re: How far do they stick out ????
Hi Alan GOOOOD looking car! Yes I can now get a good visual on how far the tips should stick out however my exhaust system is completely different ( look at some of my avatars) than yours. The only thing on mine that looks stock are the tips and the bezels. I will however put this info to good use.
Thanks -- Rey
P.S.-- Good to hear from you again.- Top
