C3 windshield wiper door opening

Working on a 68 coupe and when starting the engine the windshield wiper door opens and remains open. The control know for it is rotated to the right so it should not open. Also the headlight covers open at the same time but then close after the engine has run for a few minutes. the headlights open normally otherwise. I have been working on the wiring and vac system under the dash.

What do you do to close the wiper door after starting your 68 so it will open on its own after the engine is shut off and started again?

Harry, I had a issue with my 72 wiper door cycling up and then down on each start up. and the problem ended up being the vacuum switch under the pass side wiper arm.it was broken and stuck between the modes. What would also happen is you could also hear a vacuum hiss when the engine was shut down from the switch.

I just push it down manually because ir doesn't go down on its own. haven't been able to run a vacuum check yet trying to figure out where to start.

You can get a troubleshooting guide from Paragon (part number 4950) that can walk you thru the system. I've also got a link that describes the major parts and how to test them:

Once you understand how the system functions, it's really not that difficult to determine where the "gremlins" are!
