    VAC control

Any one have a favorite vacuum advance control from Standard Motor Products, such as VC-177 that is needed? I may have a source.

That would be a B28, which is in short supply, but is available in the Airtex brand. Why don't you just say what your source is?

Because I don't have a solid source. May means maybe.

My source (my garage) still has 2, but thanks for the offer.

Peter, Try Rock Auto. DV1810. I have another number in my notes. 4V1053. Don't know about that number. The above info was still good as of 7-19-14 but with all the horders out there(here) the part may be history.
Or Contact Don Baker at 815-498-9522 for an exact repro. Original number too. 236-15 or 16 (forget)
Exact in every way and the specs are dead nuts. John

              Re: VAC control

I don't recognize the brand for DV1810, but VC1810 is the NAPA/Echlin number for the B28, and 4V1053 is the Airtex number, which has recently been reported as being available. All are SMP manufactured and stamped B28.

The B28 is necessary to meet the Two-Inch Rule on all OE small block mechanical lifter cams. You can get away with something less on a '63 FI because they have ported vacuum advance, but my recommendation is to convert to full time and replace the OE 201 15 with a B28.

                Hi John,

I did just that after I did not hear from Ken. I found a good thread on the corvetteforum with the part number. I have two 4V1053 on the way, I'll test them both with my mityvac.

I listed the Airtex part number in the post just before yours.

                    Hi Duke,

My patience is a bit shorter than that. I ordered it the next day - hopefully it is waiting on my doorstep. You gave me the B28 up above, so I googled that with the Standard Motor Products to find that thread.
