http://www.gastanks.com/images/MYGTI-16.jpg In other on-line resources, it shows those same Anti-rattle/anti-squeak Pads as being 4-pieces (1 long one for the forward side of the tank, and 3 pieces for the rearward/sending unit side of the tank). Re: C2 Gas Tank Anti-squeak Pad question
Wayne, You may want to refer to your AIM for the answer. The 67 AIM shows 4 pieces of anti squeak material. I've also included a photo of my original tank with the material applied. The original material was about .100 thick. The front strip was 2" wide and the 3 rear pieces were 1-1/2" wide. The material is a heavily impregnated "felt".
I doubt these are judged....... due to location.- Top

Re: C2 Gas Tank Anti-squeak Pad question
I replaced my tank because it had rusted from moisture absorbed by the original pads which looked like a felt type material. I fabricated my replacement pads from rubber.
When I examined my original (63,000 mile) tank, it was clear that it had rusted from the outside, in the location of the pads.- Top

I didn't realize this and bought the repo part from one of the larger Corvette parts supplier. It turned out the part was roofing tar paper cut into strips. On one side it even had the gray lines that one can use to line up the courses of shingles.

Re: C2 Gas Tank Anti-squeak Pad question
And I thought I was the only one to take the cheap way out. When I re-installed the tank on my '70, I noticed that the anti-squeak looked an awful lot like a used version of the roll of tar-paper I had sitting in the corner. Worked fine.- Top

Re: C2 Gas Tank Anti-squeak Pad question
Gary,
I went to a local commercial roofer looking for a material close to the original, .100 thick. No luck. I did find some similar material at a local junk yard used on a MOPAR fuel tank in sheet form. That was AFTER I discovered that the Corvette vendors were selling strips of common roofing felt paper.- Top

Although many folks don't like his customer service very much, DR REBUILD has the thicker and properly cut tar paper/felt. Otherwise buy the HD felt (30# I believe) and use that.Gary,

Re: C2 Gas Tank Anti-squeak Pad question
I bought and received the Dr. Rebuild pads and they are about 1/32" thick instead of 3/32" thick. Anyone know the best place to get thicker pads or felt that I can cut myself?
Thanks,

Re: C2 Gas Tank Anti-squeak Pad question
The pads could be judged as I lost a point at a regional because they were to thin. Being a roofer for the past 40 years there are two different thickness of 15# felt and 30# felt and also UL listed 30# felt that is a lot thicker than the regular 30# felt. If one went to a roofing supply Co they would probably cut you a small piece N/C
